Our Location

Dirigo Pines is in the university town of Orono, Maine. Nearby is the acclaimed Maine Center for the Arts and all of the facilities and sports events of the University of Maine campus. Our affiliation with the University provides us with the latest in senior living advancements through the UMaine Center on Aging. The area also offers nature preserves, ponds, streams, and lakes for you to enjoy, as well as such resources as the Old Town YMCA (just three miles away) and its therapeutic swim and adult wellness programs.

Bangor is just fifteen minutes from Dirigo Pines. Large enough to have the advantages of a city, it remains small enough to be comfortable. Here you will find specialty shops, restaurants, movie theatres, a children's museum, and riverside walkways. One of the state's largest shopping malls, with well over 100 stores is located here.

The city's cultural jewel is the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, the nation's oldest community orchestra. The Penobscot Theatre Company and the Robinson Ballet also offer a full season of performances. Bangor is, of course, home to our sponsor, Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems , one of Maine's most prominent healthcare providers.

When you are inclined to travel farther afield, the marvelous wilderness of Baxter State Park and spectacular Mount Desert Island's Acadia National Park - both only about an hour away - are perfect daytrip destinations. There is also easy access to Interstate 95 from Dirigo Pines, and Bangor International Airport is just nine miles away.
